Record-breaking Month For National Health Museum Web Site
Access
Excellence @ The National Health Museum (AE), the award-winning
Web site for health and life science teachers and learners,
earned the largest monthly audience in its history in the
month of October 2004. More than 935,000 individual visits
were logged on to the site and nearly 9.2 million "hits"
sustained during this month alone.
"AE's continued preeminence in the health
science education arena is solid evidence of its value to
teachers and students across the United States," said
NHM President J. Mark Dunham. "We could not be more pleased
with its performance of this key NHM educational initiative."
The site has seen a monthly traffic increase
of more than 15% in hits and 18% in visits in the past year.
AE currently ranks in the top two percent of all Web sites
to which other sites are linked and has been recognized by
the Federal Communications Commission and the U.S. Department
of Education for general excellence. The site has received
dozens of awards for content including Encyclopedia Britannica's
"Best of the Web," Lycos' "Top Five Percent"
and Health Explorer's "Best Site." Originally established
in 1994, AE began its service as a National Health Museum
program in 1999.
