The National Health Museum brought a museum
presence to the public health community when it participated
in the American Public Health Associations 130th annual
meeting and exposition in Philadelphia, PA in November 2002.
The APHA meeting served as the inauguration of the Museums
initiative, the National Public Healht Partnership, and the
debut of the Museums video "The National Health
Museum: Experience Whats Next". There were over
12,000 public health participants at the APHA meeting where
this years theme was "Putting the Public Back in Public
Health". The NPHP inaugural events included a workshop open
to all meeting participants entitled "Experience Whats
Next
The NHM Launches the National Public Health Partnership",
an inaugural meeting with the NPHP Conveners and Steering
Committee Members, a group of more than 30 museum and
science center and public health professionals, and a reception
where the NPHP Conveners, American Association of Museums,
American Public Health Association, Association of Science-Technology
Centers, and The National Health Museum signed a Memorandum
of Understanding. In addition, the NHM staffed an exhibit
booth at APHA's Public Health Expo during the annual meeting.
