The American Association for Health Education (AAHE)

In fulfilling the mission, AAHE serves professionals in the

The American Psychological Association (APA) is a scientific
and professional organization that represents psychology
in the United States. With more than 155,000 members, APA
is the largest association of psychologists worldwide. The
objectives of the APA are to advance psychology as a science
and profession and as a means of promoting health, education,
and human welfare by: (1) the encouragement of psychology
in all its branches in the broadest and most liberal manner;
(2) the promotion of research in psychology and the improvement
of research methods and conditions; (3) the improvement of
the qualifications and usefulness of psychologists through
high standards of ethics, conduct, education, and achievement;
(4) the establishment and maintenance of the highest standards
of professional ethics and conduct of the members of the
Association; (5) the increase and diffusion of psychological
knowledge through meetings, professional contacts, reports,
papers, discussions, and publications; and (6) the advancement
of scientific interests and inquiry, and the application
of research findings to the promotion of health and the public
welfare.

The
Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) is the only
national organization representing the deans, faculty and
students of the schools of public health and other programs
seeking accreditation as schools of public health. ASPH serves
a variety of functions, including: providing a focus and
a platform for the enhancement of existing and emerging academic
public health programs; working with various agencies of
the federal government on projects aimed at strengthening
public health education and the public health profession;
assisting its member schools in the development and coordination
of national health policies; serving as an information center
for governmental and private groups and individuals whose
concerns overlap those of higher education for public health;
and assisting in meeting national goals of disease prevention
and health promotion.

Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO)
is the national non-profit organization representing the state
and territorial public health agencies of the United States,
the U.S. Territories, and the District of Columbia. ASTHO's
members, the chief health officials of these jurisdictions,
are dedicated to formulating and influencing sound public
health policy, and to assuring excellence in state-based public
health practice. ASTHO's mission is to formulate and influence
sound national public health policy and to assist state health
departments in the development and implementation of programs
and policies to promote health and prevent disease.

National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO)
provides education, information, research, and technical assistance
to local health departments and facilitates partnerships among
local, state, and federal agencies in order to promote and
strengthen public health. It is the national voice of local
public health serving nearly 3,000 local public health agencies
nationwide. NACCHO works to support efforts that protect and
improve the health of all people and all communities by promoting
national policy, developing resources and programs, and supporting
effective local public health practice and systems.

The National Association of Health Education
Centers (NAHEC) represents a national network of educational
centers that play a vital role in health education, especially
in the well being of the nation's youth. NAHEC includes 32
member centers and six sustaining members in 20 states serving
over two million children and families every year. NAHEC's
mission is to promote the development and advancement of Health
Education Centers across the United States, and its vision
is to provide every kid in the country with access to a Health
Education Center.

The Public Health Foundation (PHF) is a national, non-profit
organization dedicated to achieving healthy communities through
research, training, and technical assistance. Building on
their 32 years of experience, PHF assists health agencies
and other community health system organizations by providing

planning, understanding and using data, and improving performance
to promote and protect the health of people living within
their respective jurisdictions.

Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is an independent,
international professional association made up of a diverse
membership of health education professionals and students.
The Society promotes healthy behaviors, healthy communities,
and healthy environments through its 4,500 National and local
members, its network of 23 chapters, and its numerous partnerships
with other organizations. SOPHE is the only professional
organization devoted exclusively to public health education
and health promotion. Members work in schools, universities,
medical/managed care settings, corporations, voluntary health
agencies, international organizations, and federal, state
and local government. SOPHE’s mission is to provide
leadership to the profession of health education and health
promotion, to contribute to the health of all people through
advances in health education theory and research, excellence
